The downtown branch Colorado Athletic Club (CAC), 1630 Welton St., will be offering a ‘non-contact boxing’ course beginning September 19th and running through December 19th under the guidance of Denver and world renowned trainer Aurelio Martinez of the Denver Boxing Academy.
A ‘non-contact boxing’ course at first seems absurd, but when asked how such a course would interest the Colorado Athletic Club, Group Fitness Coordinator Lindsey Siegel was excited to speak of the new collaboration.
“When first approached by Aurelio, I was excited and impressed with the idea of incorporating boxing into a fitness program that would provide cardio and strength conditioning to our club members. Many had asked if a boxing regimen would ever become part of our curriculum, so the timing was perfect”, said Siegel.
Having been the Group Fitness Coordinator for the past 3 years at the downton Colorado Athletic Club branch, Siegel is always looking for new and creative ways to provide challenging and fun fitness ideas to her program, and with the new ‘non-contact boxing’ course being the first offered by ANY downtown gym, feels this has ‘winner’ written all over it.
For Aurelio Martinez, former trainer of 5-time champion and former World Champion Donald Camarena, the opportunity to present a ‘non-contact boxing’ course is nothing new.
“I started teaching ‘non-contact boxing’ over five years ago so that the public could learn the art of boxing and gain a training regimen that is second to none. Many places may offer ‘non-contact-boxing’ but they really mean ‘boxercise’ which is nothing more than a good cardio workout. Our ‘non-contact boxing’ course is REAL boxing. You will train as if you were a professional boxer without actually absorbing any physical abuse from punches to the body or face”, said Martinez.
A ‘non-contact boxing’ course under the tutelage of a trainer of who knows what he’s doing, at one of Denver’s premier fitness facilities seems a definite ‘no brainer’, so don’t waste time and get signed up.
Classes are limited to twenty participants per session and are held Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 5:45 -7:15 PM.
For CAC member’s the cost for the 90-day training session is a mere $225, with non-members shelling out $325, and that’s rather inexpensive for the expertise you’ll receive.
