I mentioned earlier in the day about all the quarterbacks that were looking to jump to new teams now that the NFL lockout has ended and already one has almost closed a deal with another team. This could be huge news ofr fantasy football owners.
Donovan McNabb, the former Philadelphia Eagles star who flopped last season with the Washington Redskins is nearing a finalized trade with the Minnesota Vikings. McNabb was on shaky terms with the Redskins and especially Mike Shanahan, who really didn’t want him back regardless of what the Redskins PR will have you believe.
Now, word from Foxsports.com says the Vikings have agreed to send a sixth-round draft pick in 2012 and 2013 to the Redskins in exchange for McNabb.
The Minnesota Vikings, coming off the Brett Farve merry-go-round, were looking at Tyler Thigpen and Bruce Gradkowski but, with the low price, McNabb seemed to be the way to go.
In 2010, McNabb suffered a career low year, throwing for 3,377 yards but finishing the 15 interceptions compared to 14 touchdowns. His QB rating was 77.1. This is compared to his career record, in which he averaged 3,547 yards in his years as the undisputed starter with a 216-100 TD-INT ratio. His career QB rating is 85.7.
Donovan McNabb will work out of the backfield with all-world running back Adrian Peterson and have Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian. Also, his signing might be enough to lure back SIdney Rice and that would give McNabb the best wide receiver corps of his career.
