Halfway to Forecastle or not, The Pass is a band you should catch for a live show around town. A band hailing from Louisville Kentucky played a double header this past Friday, opening a festival in Cincinnati and then driving to Louisville to play at Halfway to Forecastle. The Pass took the stage a few minutes after Big Boi left the stage and it did not take long for the crowd to migrate to their stage. The stage was set up so fans could get a close up view of the band and dance along to the tunes. Will Roberts, Kyle Peters, Brian Healey, and Neil Lucas are the musical geniuses behind The Pass
The set lasted for about an hour and the music was crazy good! The Pass performs original tunes along the psychedelic synth pop genre at many live events. The band signed with SonaBLAST! Records in Louisville Kentucky and released Colors and BURST on February 23, 2010 and September 21, 2010, respectively. Their songs from these albums see numerous plays and downloads online.
I chatted with Neil Lucas, the drummer, for a few moments after their show and I was so happy he took the time to talk about the music, the band, and the awesome music in Louisville. Neil is super cool, nice, and apparently is going to band camp here soon! We chatted about Louisville, the local music scene, and how wonderful it is to have such a diverse musical offering in our city.
I told him it was the first performance of The Pass I saw live, and I was ashamed to admit it once hearing them at Halfway to Forecastle. The music is so calming and reaches the inner soul of a listener. The words reverberated the subliminal meaning beyond comprehension. On my way home, so many things I heard in their songs clicked and brought the entire song and set into focus.
The Pass is a band that will see tremendous success here in Louisville and on a national stage. They have the drive, the effort, and attitudes that are essential to be a hit! Cannot wait to see the next show…definitely before Forecastle calls for you guys to return to play the 10th anniversary Forecastle Festival show next summer!
