While at Comic-Con last week, Veronica Roth did several Divergent-related interviews, and in them, she talked about everything from fan-casting attempts to Insurgent details.
The first was with Novel Novice, and in that, she discussed what’s to come between “Tris” and “Tobias” in the second installment to the Trilogy.
“It’s so hard to say anything without spoiling everything. All I can say is, Tris & Four? They’re in there. But things do become more complicated in there. But no love triangle. Still no love triangle. Love triangles are great, but they’re just not a Tris thing. She’s just so focused — on what what she wants … I don’t think that could happen.”

She also talked to Ben Falk and explained that while writing Divergent, she wasn’t necessarily expecting it to be translated to film, but it did play out like a movie in her own head.
“I barely had a book in mind when I was writing it—by which I mean, I was just focused on what was right in front of me, not what it would ultimately become. I do sort of think in “movie,” if that makes sense—I let the scene play out in visual form in my head before I write it, usually. But I never thought that my mental-movie-translated-to-words might be again translated into movie.”

Finally, she spoke to MTV’s Hollywood Crush about fan-casting attempts for her Divergent characters, saying:
“[Fans] usually plck someone for Tris who is much more gorgeous than she is . . . Tris is supposed to be plain, she really is. I mean, that’s not really a big deal…but it’s been spot-on otherwise.”
