A caravan of food enthusiasts will soon roam town to experience multi-culinary sensations in good company, assembled in progressive fashion by Dishcrawl.
If dining at more than one restaurant in one night seems impractical or embarrassing, should anyone find out, well consider that more than a dozen other people would love to do the same and an opportunity is coming your way.
Since 2010 Dishcrawl has been all about“bringing people together over food” hitting the following cities: San Jose, San Francisco, New York, and Montreal; with continued prospects for expanding into more areas. The team behind it all is comprised mostly of over twenty women and a couple men. The idea was initially borne as an intriguing business venture for women who love great dining, enjoy people, and welcome the challenge of managing an operation that brings together all these ingredients to produce a unique and enjoyable dining experience.
What happens at a Dishcrawl? Simply, after you make your reservations, you are informed, two days prior, of the restaurants that will be visited during the dishcrawl, where and when to meet, and you will meet other dishcrawlers -your dining companions who make the journey with you to four different dining establishments on foot – in most cases.
At the lively social gathering, you can make new acquaintances, you may have an opportunity to meet the chefs and other restaurant staff in an intimate setting, discuss food and wine, among other things, and bring home notes about the newly tried restaurants.
The number of attendees for a night’s event is limited to no more than, in most cases, forty people. Depending on the event and the restaurants, they have had as many as eighty or so. Anyone who appreciates good food, good company and a fun night out would fit right in and have a great time.
“Single people as well as moms and dads have attended and enjoyed the event. We get attendees in the 30 to 55-year age group, and many are professionals.” says Tracy Lee, CEO and founder of Dishcrawl. When feasible, Dishcrawl has, in past events, made arrangements to avail moms and dads of childcare services. Some people do the Dishcrawl as a first date, some others include couples who met at the Dishcrawl and come back to another one together.
Dishcrawl’s momentum is building and is experiencing many opportunites for expanding into more communities. Members of any community are welcome to join an upcoming Dishcrawl and with a little ambition, they can create their own – just tell the Dishcrawl folks and they will be happy to help.
On tap are Dishcrawl launches in Saratoga and Mountain View as well as return vistis to San Jose, Oakland, New York City, San Mateo, Portland, Ottawa, and Montreal.
