August 2011 has been a hot month that will likely go into the record books. Wednesday closes out the month much like the rest of it with hot and dry conditions but there is relief on the horizon.
For today we see a day much like yesterday although the mercury may climb even a degree or two higher. Look for highs in the metro area to be around 94 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
We may see a stray, high-based thunderstorm move over like yesterday but these shouldn’t yield anything more than some gusty winds and light rain. Better chances for activity will exist in the mountains and foothills.

The good news is that a series of cold fronts will be moving through the state beginning late Thursday. This will serve to drive temperatures down much closer to normal for the rest of the week and through most of the weekend.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday all should temperatures in the low 80s. Conditions should generally be clear setting us up for a fine Labor Day weekend.
Some warning is expected beginning Monday and into the first part of the next workweek. Right now however it looks like temperatures will remain more moderate that recent days.
