Acquitted defendant Casey Anthony, exonerated last month of charges stemming from the death of her 2 year old daughter Caylee Anthony in 2008 that could have landed her on death row, has been offered a half-million dollars to pose nude for hyper-controversial pornographer Larry Flynt.
Flynt recently told former prosecutor Nancy Grace, host of Headline News channel’s self-titled “Nancy Grace” show, that he was willing to pay Ms. Anthony $500,000 up front, plus 10% of all profits (of the edition she would appear in) to pose naked for his infamous adult magazine “Hustler.”
According to Ms. Grace’s blog, Flynt “…said any payment that the Orlando woman might receive for interviews with media outlets would be ‘chicken feed’ compared to what she’d receive by appearing in Hustler.”
Flynt maintains that discussions are going on between his publication and “people close to Anthony.” However her lawyer Jose Baez is reported to have told on-line liberal tabloid the Huffington Post, “I have never spoken or communicated with Hustler magazine in any way shape or form.”
Long before Casey Anthony’s rise to infamy, Flynt embroiled himself, on numerous occasions, in high profile controversies documented in a 1996 loosely-based biopic “The People Vs. Larry Flynt.”
The strip club owner turned porno magnate stirred considerable ire when he took aim at a wide range of pop culture, political and religious icons; e.g. The Wizard of Oz (lampooning characters of the beloved narrative engaged in sex acts), Jackie Onassis (printing pictures Hustler claimed were the former first lady in the buff) and Reverend Jerry Falwell (publishing a parodied alcohol ad asserting Falwell had sex with his own mother in an outhouse).
Public outrage came to a head in March of 1978 when Flynt was shot and paralyzed by a crazed gunman outside a Lawrenceville, GA. courthouse where he was enmeshed in one of countless legal battles over what many see as “smut-peddling.”
Predictably, far left newspaper, the New York Times did their level best to affiliate Flynt’s assailant, Joseph Paul Franklin, a self-declared neo-Nazi and member of the KKK, with Christianity. The Times once ran a story about how death row convict Franklin was enjoying “meditating on the Bible,” hence the inference.
If Casey Anthony agrees to appear nude, as Flynt hopes, it would certainly not be the first time a notable femme fatale would go from legal struggles to adult “entertainer.”
In a 1992 case which would set the mould, Amy Fisher, then a 17 year old student at Kennedy High School in Bellmore, NY drove to the home of the man she was having an affair with, 36 year old Joey Buttafuoco, and opened fire with a handgun on his wife Mary Jo, who had just turned 37.
In that instance Fisher was convicted of first degree assault, after lawyers plea bargained down the attempted first degree murder charges the teenager was facing. Since her release from prison Fisher has added adult film star to her resume’, lamenting recently on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab” that she is unable to support herself and her family otherwise.
Time will tell whether or not Anthony will reveal all. Some would submit that venturing into porn might be the only avenue left for Casey Anthony to make a living – her reputation ruining all hope of leading anything remotely resembling a normal life regarding employment and otherwise for that matter.
Another perhaps equally valid argument could be strongly presented: that this is the bed she’s made (no pun intended). What else can she do but to lie down in it?
Until next time…
