This is the time of year where things head up regarding casting for the next season of Dancing With the Stars. Though ABC won’t announce the official cast for at least a few weeks, sources indicate that agreements are being made and contracts are being signed. After a lackluster couple of casts the past few seasons, word has it that DWTS executives are pulling out all the stops to get a stellar cast this season. Who will Scottsdale fans be watching when DWTS 13 premieres in September? Thursday morning details are starting to leak that give fans the inside track on who they will supposedly be seeing.
Rumors have been swirling that Rob Kardashian will be dancing this fall, and both TMZ and Gossip Cop share Thursday that this one seems to be for real. He didn’t deny the rumors during a recent talk show appearance, and he has reportedly signed on the dotted line. He apparently agreed to dance with the stipulation that he wouldn’t begin practicing until after sister Kim Kardashian’s wedding, which is expected to take place in early August. Kim didn’t do very well during her 2008 DWTS stint – can Rob do better?
Lakers basketball star Ron Artest is reportedly considering a spot, according to TMZ. The site usually does a solid job of getting the cast scoop on this show, so this will be one to watch. The scheduling could be an issue, however, though insiders say rehearsal requirements have been lifted for this season in an effort to attract bigger stars. Sources indicate this one is still in the works, so fans will have to stay tuned.
Dina Lohan and Snooki from Jersey Shore have both been rumored, but these two seem unlikely. Snooki’s manager said it’s not happening, and the Dina Lohan rumor is most likely just another desperate attempt on her part to get attention. If the show really is going after higher-echelon stars this round, chances are you can count these two out of the mix. Another name bandied about is Evelyn Lozada from Basketball Wives. Lozada also happens to be the fiancé of former DWTS contestant Chad Ochocinco, so this one may be worth watching.
Christina Milian’s name has popped up a few places, though this one seems less likely. Sure, she’s higher profile than some options, but would she be interested in the gig? Maybe, but many are guessing this is one rumor that doesn’t pan out for casting. Pro wrestler Velvet Sky seems to be looking for a spot, but this may not be her season if the show is aiming for higher-tier celebrities. Insiders have shared that not only will the celebrities have control over how much they rehearse, they will also get to choose the music and costume choices. Perhaps this will be a season that has fans excited again?
What about the pros? The pros themselves don’t necessarily know much until the celebrity cast is set, though both Derek Hough and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are said to be returning. More should be revealed on the celebrities and dancing pros over the next week or two. Who would you like to see dance this season? Dancing With the Stars premieres September 19 on ABC, Channel 15 in the Scottsdale area.
