Whenever Harley-Davidson rolls out their Demo Trucks to promote the new model year, there is much jostling for position as to which dealerships will get first crack at them; Dallas Harley-Davidson secured a demo truck for the first appearance in Texas and what an amazing event it has been.
Events kicked off Thursday evening with an invitation-only preview party which gave customers a chance to visit with their favorite staff members and indulge in food from Dallas‘ own “swanky-tonk“, LaGrange.
Friday morning saw things get off to an early start and the crew at the dealership all pitched in to ensure barricades, traffic cones, port-a-cool’s, and more were set up — and have I mentioned the insanely hot summer Dallas is having? Heat be damned because the first day of the free demo rides saw an absolutely full roster when it came to taking those gorgeous 2012‘s — including a wildly popular CVO and the new Dyna Switchback — out on a fun 7-mile ride that allowed potential owners to feel how the bikes handled in various riding conditions from city traffic to residential and all points in-between.
Saturday was the full throttle day which kicked off with a free Biker Breakfast, the Dallas Harley Owners Group‘s Ladies of Harley held a bake sale benefiting Motorcops for Kids, the fantastic teen band, Hey Rob! performed great classic rock songs, and Mama Faye’s BBQ came out with fresh smoked meats to the delight of the crowd and always non-stop were the coming and going’s of the 2012’s which is what this event is all about.
As dynamic as the bikes were, the true heroes of this event have been the Road Captains from Dallas H.O.G. This steadfast team of volunteers took time off from their jobs, were at the dealership early both mornings and have braved serious heat to ensure everyone that got signed up for a demo ride enjoyed themsleves and had a safe time….what an amazing volunteer team this was and major kudos go out to them for a job well done!
