Most Christian parents teach their children to live according to God’s commandments such as “Do not steal.” They are also taught to respect their elders.
A Richmond, Virginia student at The Way of Life Bible Institute shared that a 73-year old man was robbed by two teenagers according to the Huffington Post,
What did they take? All the man had in his pockets… 7 cents!
Crime doesn’t pay! 73-year-old man robbed of 7 cents
Anthony Stewart, 15-year-old, and Skyler Ninham, 16-year-old punched a 73-year-old man in the face, broke his eye glasses and took all his money from his pockets . . . only 7 cents.
The Robbery: By the Numbers:
- Robbed: 73-year-old man
- Robber: 15-year-old Anthony Stewart; 2 years in juvenile detention; not a youthful offender
- Robber: 16-year-old Skyler Ninham; 1 year at a state prison; charged as a youthful offender
- Amount Taken: 7 cents
- Weapon: BB gun
Stewart will have this incident on his record, and he will be known as a felon because he did not plead guilty even though he was identified by the man he robbed and by his accomplice. The judge refused to try him as a youthful offender.
Stewart’s accomplice, Skyler Ninham, said he was guilty. Therefore, the judge sentenced him as a youth offender, and he will spend a year in prison but will not have the incident on his record as a felony according to the Daily News.
Stewart’s attorney, Laurin Haddad said: “For 7 cents, now you’re making someone a felon for the rest of his life.”
Both boys used what turned out to be BB guns.
Crime doesn’t pay. So many lives were affected; all for 7 cents!
