Now is the perfect time for Clevelanders to visit the numerous area Farmer’s Markets where you can purchase fresh, homegrown vegetables and fruit provided by Northeast Ohio area farmers. One of Ohio’s biggest crops and one of the most popular is corn and now you have the chance to celebrate corn at the 36th annual North Ridgeville Corn Festival on Friday, August 12, Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14. North Ridgeville is 27 miles west of Cleveland and it is approximately a 30 minute drive.
North Ridgeville Corn Festival Corn will be everywhere at this free, 3 day family-friendly event with activities to please visitors of all ages. One of the highlights of the Festival will be the Corn Eating Contest open to ages 5 to 99 where contestants will vie for the title of Corn Eating Champ. There is a $5 entry fee (proceeds going to North Ridgeville Community Care) and you must register to take part in the contest. Registration is available at the Corn Festival Souvenir Booth anytime during the Festival. The contest will take place on Saturday.
Those visitors wishing to just eat and enjoy corn without a competition have the choice of purchasing steamed or roasted corn. There will also be plenty of other food available for purchase.
Other activities at the North Ridgeville Corn Festival include a Corn Hole Tournament, a 10K/5 K run, children’s games, amusement rides, and a car show (on Saturday). A parade will be held on Sunday, August 14 at 2:30 p.m starting at the North Ridge Plaza.
Free musical entertainment will be provided by singer Pat Dailey (on Friday at 8 :30 p.m.), Tall Order Services, The Reflections and local bands.
Guests will also be able to visit the 21st annual Arts & Crafts Fair all three days of the Festival located at the Office for Older Adults (Senior Center) on the grounds of the Festival. Hours for the Arts & Crafts Fair are 6 p.m.- 10 p.m. on Friday, noon- 10 p.m. on Saturday and noon – 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The Corn Festival will also have a fireworks display on Friday evening at 10:30 p.m.
Hours for the North Ridgeville Corn Festival are 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon – 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the Corn Festival is free, however, there is a charge for the amusement rides. Unlimited rides on Friday cost $14. From noon – 6 p.m. on Saturday unlimited rides are $12 and from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. are $14. Unlimited rides on Sunday are $15.
