Dragon*Con is less than one week away! That means it is time once again for panels, performances, and oh yes, parties! The guys from CON*tourage are back this year with four more parties and social events designed to bring together the fans at con and show them a great time.
It all starts with the CON*tourage Annual Meet & Greet Con Kick-Off on Thursday, September 1. Like last year, the meet and greet will take place in the Hyatt Regency’s Twenty-Two Storys Bar (formerly the Parasol Bar). Newly renovated, the lobby bar has an open, upscale feel. The meet and greet will take place from 8-10pm, which gives you plenty of time to get to the Sheraton and pick up your Dragon*Con membership badge before heading to the Meet & Greet.
“Thursday night has become the ‘unofficial’ first day of Dragon*Con, and in the past many people just wandered around, not knowing where to go to get their Labor Day weekend started,” said Mark Baggett of CON*tourage. “Thursday night’s Meet & Greet…provides us with an excellent opportunity to see friendly faces from past cons and also meet face-to-face with attendees who are new and unfamiliar with the whole CON*tourage experience and sometimes Dragon*Con itself.”
The Meet & Greet is just the beginning of CON*tourage’s 4-day social agenda. Friday night rock out at the Annual Heavy Metal Party, get crazy Saturday at Fiesta Con Loco, and recharge Sunday at the Pancake Chow Down. If you’re planning on attending these events, the Meet & Greet is a great way to break the ice so you can get to know your fellow “contourage” before all of the craziness of Dragon*Con begins.
In addition to being a con kick-off party, this is also the time to learn the location of the CON*tourage party suite and pick up your party passes. Party passes are required for the two late night CON*tourage parties hosted on Saturday and Sunday nights. VIP and Regular Party Pass holders will be able to pick up their reserved passes at the Meet & Greet. If you didn’t already reserve a pass online, they will be doing a “lottery-style” drawing from those present for a limited amount of Regular Party Passes at the Meet & Greet. If there are any VIP Party Passes left (reserved VIP passes are currently sold out), they will also take donations for those wanting to acquire VIP status and privileges.
“It’s worked out very nicely this year as the Girls of the Con will also be having their 2012 Calendar Premiere Party in the same location as our Meet & Greet, so people can also check them out while mingling around,” said Mark Baggett. Good-looking geek girls hanging out near the Meet & Greet? Bonus!
Come see old friends and make new ones during the CON*tourage Annual Meet and Greet at Dragon*Con, Thursday night from 8-10pm. Look for the CON*tourage red flag in the bar area, then spot the CON*tourage “Crue” in their CON*tourage t-shirts. Introduce yourself, mingle, and get ready for a long weekend of great parties wtih CON*tourage at Dragon*Con.
