Here in Burleson, the kids have gone back to school, August will soon be over. fall is coming. Hopefully September will end the 60 plus days of temperatures over 100 and the drought that has accompanied it. Hopefully soon it will rain and we need to be prepared. We have gotten lazy about leaving trash and debris around outside that can affect our drinking water.
The City of Burleson wants us to know “Where it all goes” The rain collects all of the debris from our lawns and the trash that is thrown by the side of the street and washes it into storm drains that enters rivers and streams and eventually becomes our drinking water. Yuck!
Please don’t dump paint down the storm drains, Burleson contracts with Fort Worth for hazardous waste collections twice a year or you may take it to the Fort Worth Environmental Center 6400 Bridge Street, Fort Worth.
Yard clippings and waste can be composted, mulched or bagged (using appropriate lawn bags) if it is left by the curbside it may enter the storm drain and clog up the system at some point.
If your car needs to be washed use a bucket or hose and please use environmentally safe phosphate free detergent.
