On Tuesday, the WWE taped an episode of SmackDown in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The episode will air on the Syfy network on Friday July 22nd, at 8pm EST. According to PWInsider.com, SmackDown opened up with former world champion Randy Orton sitting in the middle of the ring and briefly talked about Vince McMahon being fired. He then demanded that Christian come out and face him. Orton wanted a rematch with Christian for the world championship that he lost to Christian on Sunday at the Money In The Bank PPV.

Christian came out and apologized for spitting on Randy, which caused Randy to snap and get disqualified. The DQ led to Christian winning the championship from Orton. SmackDown GM Teddy Long came out said that Orton has a Street Fight tonight with Kane and will not get a rematch against Christian. Orton snaps again and attacks Christian, savagely beating him. Teddy Long tells Christian that he has a match right now against Ezekial Jackson.
Christian survives the match and defeats Ezekial Jackson via pinfall. Jackson dominated the match but Christian was able to hit the killswitch for the win. Very surprising that the WWE would make an opening match between the world champion (Christian) and the intercontinental champion (Jackson), especially without any hype or promotion.
Michael Cole interviews Daniel Bryan and antagonizes him. Cole continues to take cheapshots at Bryan. Coles says that Bryan will take the easy way out and cash his MITB contract in when a champion is down. Bryan says that Cole’s opinion means nothing to him. Daniel announces that he will cash his contract in at WrestleMania 28.
Daniel Bryan defeats Heath Slater via submission. The match was given plenty of time and by all accounts, it turned out to be a solid match between the two with many pundits praising their work. Bryan wins with the Lebell Lock.
Matt Striker Interviews Mark Henry. Striker asks Henry about his post match attack on Big Show at the Money In The Bank PPV. Mark says he has no remorse for his attack and was happy to destroy the Big Show.
Sheamus and Wade Barrett fight to a no contest. Sheamus gets a solid pop from the crowd. Both men fought well in the match and were brawling outside the ring at the 10 count. After the match, Sheamus lands a big boot that KO’s Barrett. The crowd cheered big time for Sheamus.
