I will never forget my 8th grade art class as it opened my eyes to the world of pottery. As part of a 4 week session, we learned how to create, fire, and glaze personalized mugs. To this day, some 20ish years later my dad still keeps the “pot of gold” lopsided mug I made for him.
As an adult, I don’t have the time to work with clay to mold creations, but I still love to paint pottery. Not too long ago, I discovered Clay Monet located in Lake Zurich. With my niece and her two friends in tow, we spent the afternoon painting figurines, trinket boxes, and magnets.
Clay Monet is a contemporary paint your own pottery (ceramic) studio. They provide a fun, relaxing and creative environment for all ages and skill levels.
Clay Monet is a perfect place to spend time with your children, celebrate with friends, or unwind after work. They have lots of ceramic (bisque) pieces to choose from, two painting options: beautiful glazes (fired ceramic paints) or vibrant acrylics (non-fired paints), idea books, stamps and stencils to help you create your one of a kind work of art.
Clay Monet does not charge a studio fee and their ceramic pieces range in price from $3 to $60. Most people find a piece they love for under $20. The wide selection includes functional pieces such as mugs, plates and bowls to decorative items such as figurines, tiles and kitchen accessories.
The studio is also home to six pottery wheel. Studio time on the wheels is available through Clay Monet’s different pottery wheel classes/workshops and also by appointment for those 16 years and older with prior experience.
