In today’s economy the growing need through out our nation to lend a rescuing hand to those in need is becoming increasingly prevalent. A particular well known local agency Riverside Meals on Wheels www.riversidemealsonwheels Provides weekly meals for seniors, homebound and disabled people of the community, where clients do not have to meet an income level to qualify for the program. Together with MaryRoberts Pet Adoption Center the two non profit agencies have teamed up in an effort to keep pets and owners together in their homes. Helping owners avoid the painful decision to relinquish their pets that have become their constant companions they have grown to love. Mary Roberts Pet Adoption Center started a program called Chuck Waggin Pet Meals which began back in 2009 and is one of only a few in the nation. The program works coinciding with the two agencies relying solely on donations of both wet and dry pet foods donated from individuals, businesses, and local retailers. Pet food is delivered to the clients with pets, free of charge along with owner’s weekly delivery of food to the home. Through the pet meal program clients do not have to compromise the care of their pet to fit their budget. Along with providing pet meals the volunteers do their best to stick to the current diet the pet is on, honoring special request for the pet if possible. A separate application Chuck Waggin Pet Food form for each pet in the household is filled out by the client. Forms can be downloaded in PDF form online, or obtained through Riverside Meals on Wheels local office. The pet meals application is a short form with questions relating to the pet of the client, pets age, weight, and current pet food diet. Organizations, individuals or anyone wishing to donate pet food for the Chuck Waggin Pet Meals program may drop off donations at the Mary Roberts Pet Adoption Center http://www.petsadoption.org more information with location, hours and donations accepted are listed below. We all grow old as this is part of the cycle of life. Many are faced to live alone having only their loyal companion pet by their side. Pets that have stood by them and loved them unconditionally, while giving the person a reason and purpose to live. Having to even consider giving up their beloved pet because of financial difficulty is heart breaking. Owners will compromise their own health and nutrition by feeding their pets their own food causing inadequate nutrition for both. Because of the Chuck Waggin program owners and pets are able to stay together. Pet food drives that raise money for pet meals can be formed in any community as a project for your local neighborhood, school, or church. Action starts with an idea developing into reality, people or pets should never go hungry. Caring is giving, and giving creates abundance.
