Chris Harrison talks with TV Guide about the finale of ‘The Bachelorette’ 2011

by jolt left

Ashley and JP from ABC’s The Bachelorette 2011 got engaged in Monday night’s finale, and “Team Cupcake” fans are thrilled. Scottsdale viewers look forward to hearing host Chris Harrison’s thoughts each week after the show airs, and he is back for one more round this week. Chris talked to TV Guide and shares and great insider details for fans of Ashley Hebert, JP Rosenbaum and Ben Flajnik.

First, Chris was asked how Ashley could have let Ben propose when she knew she was going to turn him down. He says, “Even if he knew at the back of his mind [Ashley would say no], he wanted to go through with it [and] even if she had said, ‘Don’t get down on one knee,’ that’s not going to make it better.” Chris wasn’t surprised Ben got angry, he’s more surprised that it doesn’t happen more often. He notes that Ben wasn’t mean or vindictive, just heartfelt and hurt.

While Chris thinks Ben was always a contender, he says, “I think it was JP all along, he was the frontrunner, but at the same time if there was anyone else with a chance it was Ben.” However, Chris was very surprised about the reaction JP got from Ashley’s sister, Chrystie Corns. While Chrystie and JP are said to get along well now, she was not a fan of Rosenbaum upon first meeting him. Chris says her reaction was very strange, adding, “You can’t have that negative of a reaction to JP, it’s like hating a puppy. How do you hate a puppy? Maybe it was jealousy of Ashley’s life, I don’t know.” JP himself has said in interviews that the Chrystie he knows now and the Chrystie he met with The Bachelorette 2011 in Fiji seem like two completely different people.

What advice does Chris have for Ashley and JP? “Go life your life… Those that get caught up in the Hollywood limelight and spotlight, it catches up to them. Take advantage of the great things to come, but don’t let it change what you are.” Harrison has shared that he loves the opportunity to bring the successful show couples back in future shows, so fans hope that Ashley and JP will be joining that crowd next season on The Bachelor.

While The Bachelorette is now wrapped up for the season, next Monday viewers can tune in to Bachelor Pad 2. Tune in Monday night, August 8 to see how it all begins. ABC’s Bachelor Pad 2 airs on Channel 15 in the Scottsdale area.
