Our August IPA sees a return the Double IPA. Citrus hops dominate this strong IPA which will be served from a dry hopped cask in the brew house. We will be serving this in a 13 oz. glass due to the higher alcohol content.
EARLY WARNING: Our next Chef and Brewer’s Dinner will be a Chocolate Heaven Brewer’s Dinner, Tuesday, September 20, from 6:00 to 9:30 pm. It will consist of three larger appetizers and three desserts, all of which will have chocolate in the recipe. We are currently taking reservations for this and we have plenty of space left as we have increased the number reservations we are taking due to the popularity of these events.

Summer is here and we figured this would be a great time to continue our “It Might Get…” style themed night events with the refreshingly summer stylings of the French/Belgian Farmhouse Ales know as SAISONS! A refreshing, medium to strong fruity/spicy ale with a distinctive yellow-orange color, highly carbonated, well hopped, and dry with a quenching acidity. A seasonal summer style originally produced in Wallonia, Belgium, at the end of the cool season to last through the warmer months before refrigeration was common. It had to be sturdy enough to last for months but not too strong, to be quenching and refreshing in the summer.

An up close look at one of the seven Trappist breweries, La Trappe. We’ll be be pouring the Isid’or and Dubbel on draft and featuring the Quadrupel in bottles. Our head chef, Michael Wells will be making a tasting plate for each of the three beers. Order a beer and receive a complementary tasting plate to be paired specifically with that beer.

On the first Tuesday of each month from 6 pm to 8 pm, we conduct an in-depth tour and tutored tasting at our brewery. Classes meet in the State Room, on the second floor of our restaurant. We are limiting this to 25 “students” each month and seats can be reserved, for $15 per person, by calling (312) 755-1677. Classes conducted by our Brewmaster include brewery tour, discussion of beer styles, history, and flavor profiles, light snacks, and tastings of every beer currently on tap.

A unique collaboration of Chicago Food Trucks and Chicago’s latest smash dive bar. Scott Harris (Francesca’s, Purple Pig, Davanti Enoteca) is opening a new restaurant and bar in the South Loop area called Ethyl’s Beer and Wine Dive. Every Thursday night throughout the summer there will be a collection of roughly 7 different Food Trucks outside the restaurant. Come have a good time with Goose Island Beer, Food Trucks, and Music.

Clown Shoes beers were only to be found in New England until recently, and Map Room was one of the first bars in Illinois to carry them. The beers are the creation of Gregg Berman, who has been contract brewing them at the Mercury Brewery (AKA Ipswich Ale Brewery) in Massachusetts. Come in on Thursday and taste a couple of his fine ales. Hoppy Shoes, a 7% Black IPA (Cascadian Dark) brewed with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops and premium dark malts. Grapefruit and pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone. Brown Angel Double Brown Ale (7%, 40 IBU), a “sexy American interpretation” of the brown ale style brewed with Maris Otter malt, Amarillo and Columbus hops, and then late-hopped with the classic English hop, East Kent Golding. The result is a dark brown beer with notes of chocolate and coffee, firm bitterness and citrusy flavor from the American hops, and a floral finish from the EKGs.
