His friend, Victor, believes that all of Logan’s good luck is due to the photograph he carries and that he owes a debt to the woman in the picture. His journey takes him to North Carolina where he meets Elizabeth, the mother of a young son named Ben. He becomes employed as a dog trainer at her Nana’s kennel. Logan and his dog, Zeus, quickly become immersed in their lives. Eventually, Elizabeth and Logan enter into a loving relationship.
Logan has to contend with Elizabeth’s ex-husband, power-hungry Clayton. At the same time, he must figure out how to reveal his secret about the photograph and why he actually came looking for Elizabeth. Can he find a way to do this without appearing like a psycho or a stalker without losing the woman and the new life he has come to love and believe to be his destiny?
This is the first Nicholas Sparks book read. It was a wonderful love story offering a great amount of interesting detail, without being excessive as to lose reader interest. The lead characters are extremely likeable. Secondary characters and the use of the dog, Zeus, greatly enhanced the story. Many people will find that they can relate to a story loaded with compassion and hope. A truly realistic story.
Everyone loves to believe in destiny, hope, love, and a happy ending. From beginning to ending, you find yourself cheering for Logan and Elizabeth. A more explosive and drawn out ending would have been better. Overall, this book was a fast read and hard to put down.
It is a highly recommended book for any Nicholas Sparks’ fan and anyone who wants to begin reading his books.
