Scott-Vincent Borba, the man behind the super popular Borba Skin Care line, has treated the famous faces of Mila Kunis, Ashley Greene and Nancy O’Dell, just to name a few. His approach to skin care is different in that he believes everything plays a role in good skin, including the right products and the right food. That’s why his line includes topical and edible products.
Mr. Borba was kind enough to take time out of his super busy schedule to answer The Examiner’s questions on skin care.
- Your take on skin care is a little different. Can you explain your inside-out approach? SVB: Inside out beauty is about combining the foods you eat and the water you drink, even the sweets you enjoy, with the creams and lotions you use and allowing them to work synergistically. It’s about nourishing your body on the inside and the outside so that your skin on the epidermis and dermal layers are in perfect communication. By doing this, you’ll see significant results much quicker than simply treating the outside alone.
- What is the most important thing women can do for their skin? SVB: Double cleanse (use an exfoliating cleanser first then follow with a cream cleanser. This will remove dead skin cells and dirt first and will allow your cleanser to better penetrate pores), feed your skin with the same actives you put in your body (Like Omega topically and internally, or antioxidants topically and internally). Power hydrate which means consuming green leafy vegetables along with 1 liter of water minimum and use sulfur to spot treat blemishes.
- What is the biggest mistake women are doing in regards to skin care? SVB: The biggest mistake is not preventing damage ahead of time. It’s much easier to prevent damage than to correct it! Additionally, women often do not use the right amount of their products: For cleansers use at least a quarter-sized amount to properly clean skin, for serums, you only need a nickel-sized portion and for nighttime facial moisturizer, you only need a dime-size amount of product.
- Why do celebrities always seem to have such great skin? SVB: They take care of it. Simple as that! When something is important to you, or is your moneymaker, it becomes a priority. Just like eating your 3 meals a day, celebrities treat their skin the same way. They go through their system morning and night and touch up through the day. When the cameras are always on you, it’s crucial to look your best!
I also asked Mr. Borba how to get rid of those annoying dark circles and what women should be doing everyday for their skin. Check back tomorrow for his answers!
