Thursday night on CBS Big Brother, Jordan and Rachel will hold the deciding votes on whether to evict Adam or Shelly. The odds are extremely heavy they’ll send Shelly packing. In the past two weeks, Shelly turned on her alliance with the veterans, gotten into a fight with Jeff, and then a screaming argument with mild-mannered Jordan, which I didn’t even know was possible.
Shelly has become America’s Most Hated, with Facebook pages dedicated to her, death threats to her family, angry calls to her work, and many other things that should really lead some people to seek medication.
Yes, Shelly has become the bad guy this season. She’s hated and distrusted in and out of the house.
There’s no way I would vote her out of the Big Brother house.
A lot of times as viewers, we get caught up in which of the HouseGuests we like, and which ones we personally wouldn’t want to have to live with.
That’s not a bad criteria for eviction early on in the game, when there’s still a month to be lived inside the house. Now, however, every game move should be made with one question in mind.
“Will this move help me win a half a million dollars?”
The two main reasons to evict a HouseGuest at this point are either they pose a danger to you, or you know you can’t beat them if you go to the final two together. What is the gameplay reason for tossing Shelly out of the house?
Shelly is the only HouseGuest left who’s never won a competition. No Head of Households, no Vetoes, nothing. She’s been useless every single time. Jordan and Rachel have five combined. Even Adam the floater has won a competition. Anything can happen, but Shelly isn’t really a danger.
And if Shelly survives to the final two, how many votes to win would she have?
She might have Daniele’s vote, but at this point Dani would probably vote for whoever played the best game. She respects gameplay. The other veterans won’t vote for her, especially if one of them is up against her. That’s four of the seven votes right there. I’m not sure if Porsche, Kalia, or Adam would definitely give Shelly their vote, either.
At this point, sometimes taking a bigger target and less popular player along with you is the best option.
Jordan should know that, she won Big Brother 11 two years ago by taking the resoundingly unpopular Natalie “Nat The Rat” to the final two. Jordan won the final Head of Household that season, and evicted harmless Kevin because she knew she’d easily beat Natalie for the half million dollar prize.
Shelly’s played this game hard, but not well. I don’t see any way she can win it at this point, but she could be the chip that pushes someone else to a half a million dollars.
Put it this way, if Shelly were in the final two, which of the remaining five HouseGuests could she beat?
