July is National Blueberry Month and New Jersey is one of the top producers of blueberries, therefore Cava Winery will be celebrating bluebery month by offering visitors special New Jersey blueberry treats when they visit the winery July 30 – 31, 2011.
Cava Winery got its name from the local area’s history of mining—Cava means cave or mine in Italian. Anthony Riccio, the owner of Cava, and his wife Deneah Bledsoe, the winery’s resident enologist and winemaker said after researching the area’s history, the name seemed an appropriate tribute to the blistered hands that achieved the area’s reputation.
Anthony says “We find kinship with the miners through hard work and, with a little luck, we hope to yield something precious from the earth. In our process of winemaking, we hope to achieve outright alchemy.”
The winery produces 11 red wines, 3 white wines and a line of wines called Ceci Bella that is a blend of traditional wine with fruit wines in combinations like: Kiwi Pino Grigio, Strawberry Riesling, Blackberry Merlot and a Sangria.
So why not celebrate the magical blueberry at the Berries Blueberry Weekend, July 30-31, noon- 6p.m. Cava Winery is located on 394 Route 94 in Hamburg, New Jersey. For information call rhew winery: 973-823-9463.
