Casey Anthony case: jurors ‘sick to stomach’ re verdict
San Francisco residents are hearing in top news that one of the jurors in the Casey Anthony murder, Jennifer Ford, has told the press that the jury were not happy with the Not Guilty verdict that Casey Anthony was given.
According to ABC News, Ford said: “I did not say she was innocent. I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, then you cannot determine what the punishment should be.”
San Francisco resident, Ben Michael, said: “A lot of people were furious with the verdict and people said she, literally, got away with murder.”
Ford talked about why none of the jurors wanted to speak to the press after the verdict was given.
“Everyone wonders why we didn’t speak to the media right away,” Ford stated.
“It was because we were sick to our stomachs to get that verdict. We were crying, and not just the women. It was emotional and we weren’t ready. We wanted to do it with integrity and not contribute to the sensationalism of the trial.”
Ford said the evidence didn’t seem complete but that the theory that Caylee Anthony had drowned in the family swimming pool was the most believable of the options they were given.
“I’m not saying I believe the defense,” she stated to press. “Obviously, it wasn’t proven so I’m not taking that and speculating at all. But it’s easier for me logically to get from point A to point B via the defense argument.”
According to the Hollywood Gossip, the problem was that even though many thought Casey Anthony did kill her 2-year old, there was no definite proof and in fact there were too many unanswered questions about exactly how little Caylee died.
“If there was a dead child in that trunk, does that prove how she died? No idea, still no idea.” Ford said, explaining the rationale behind the verdict.
“If you’re going to charge someone with murder, don’t you have to know how they killed someone or why, or have something, where, when, why, how?”
“Those are important questions. They were not answered.”
Casey Anthony was convicted on four counts of lying to police and was given a one year term and a fine for each count. Since she was given credit for time served, it’s likely Casey Anthony will be out in the middle of July.
