Now we are passing through the heavenly realm of Cancer (the Crab) until July 22. Perhaps it’s because of the solar eclipse in Cancer on July 1 or the fact that this is my own sign, but I recently had a particularly Cancerian personal experience. I took a special road trip with my family to explore our roots. Cancer people are very sentimental. They love digging through the past. They honor their parents and ancestors. They study genealogy and keep detailed records, family trees, Bibles, photo albums, journals and gravestone rubbings. We are not all Cancers, but this is what we do in our family. My sister decided to organize this trip to the Pennsylvania countryside especially as a gift to our father. It took place while the Sun was in Cancer because everyone’s schedules just worked out that way. It was by accident but also by grand design. As soon as we got on the road I realized the amazing synchronicity.
We visited the farm where my great grandmother was raised. My great grandfather grew up nearby and it is believed that this farm is where they courted and fell in love. My sister and I climbed the beautiful hill above the farmhouse and had a mystical experience. We met some of our distant cousins who still live there, work the farm and lead simple, wholesome lives. They were loving and gracious and they welcomed us. We exchanged stories. They showed us pictures, documents and even home movies about the farm. They have cherished their heritage and shared it with us. Even the dairy cows and horses were friendly. After the farm, we visited two old Quaker meetinghouses, one that dated back to 1799. We ended our trip with some beach time in Assateague, Maryland, also a favorite activity of Cancer, which as you know is a water sign.
I must say the Grand Cross in the cardinal signs (see my last article) didn’t bring me any difficulties. Perhaps it brought me transformation from within and a new perspective on things. I hope my readers have been as fortunate. I felt as though I was reconnected to the earth. It was more than sentimental. It was the vacation of a lifetime, more meaningful than Paris, Rome or Hawaii.
