Indian Land, South Carolina – Ricky is lost. He is a young male German shepherd and Labrador retriever mix and is heartworm positive. He was last seen on Yorkshire Court in the Legacy Park subdivision. Ricky has been missing since August 27, and his foster home is asking everyone in the area to be on alert for this dog.
A reward of $250 is being offered for information leading to Ricky’s safe return.
Ricky is black with high ears, neutered and does have a microchip. He weighs 40 pounds, and has a shaved spot on his back from his first heartworm treatment.
Ricky was last known to have been wearing a black collar with identification tags.
Ricky came from Mullins County Animal Shelter; a shelter in South Carolina in dire need of renovation and repairs. With no heat or air-conditioning, abandoned animals live in unsuitable conditions. When Ricky was found, he had been starved, dehydrated and would not eat.
He had two bald rings around his neck, and several wounds on his chest and body. His knee was swollen about three times the size of his other knee, and he is thought to have had a ruptured tendon that no one ever treated.
But Ricky’s life changed when he was adopted by Kim Furhmann. Now he had the will to live, and even though he was supposed to be quietly resting during his heartworm treatment, Ricky decided he wanted to familiarize himself with his new neighborhood when he slipped out of his new home, but may have become disoriented and is now lost.
Pet Pardons co-founder Chris Hoar is offering a $250 reward for the safe return of Ricky. If you have any information on this dog’s location, please contact Kim at (803) 746-7259 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
