The question on everyones minds is how can an upper class soccer Mom kill both of her children? The person I am referring to is Julie Schenecker.
If you will recall in January, she was the Mom who shot her son Beau,13, and daughter Calyx,16, after school on January 27, of this past year.
The son was shot while in his Mom’s SUV, and the daughter was shot while doing homework on her computer in her room. Both were fatal head injuries.
The father, Parker Schenecker, was in the military and currently overseas when the tragedy occurred. He said his wife, Julie Schenecker, had suffered from depression since before they were married. When it hit, he said, she would have low energy, ignore housekeeping duties and meal preparation and stay in bed for much of the day.
“I never had any indication that she would harm the children, or that she would ever think of taking the children’s lives. It was absolutely incredible when I found out she did. …
He said he convinced her to check into inpatient rehab after he suspected she had substance abuse issues in November. “I did everything I could think of to do,” said Schenecker, a colonel in the Army.
Well, yesterday brought new light when Julie’s medical files were revealed to the public. After the incident, 14 bottles of lithium, oxycontin, anti-depressants, anti-anxiety pills and hydrocodone were found. Not to mention many, many open bottles of alcohol were found around the house. She also did not just suffer from depression, she was bipolar also.
All those pills, plus the alcohol ingested could have definitely killed her. Instead she took her rage out on her children.
Investigators believe the teens “never saw it coming,” said police spokeswoman Laura McElroy. Both were killed with a .38-caliber pistol. The arrest affidavit said the weapon was purchased five days earlier, WPTV news reports.
The local coverage here in West Palm Beach has been extensive. So many whys? Not enough answers. Until now.
Once again mixing prescription drugs with alcohol is a lethal combination. In this case it was the sufferer who lived and her innocent children who died. What a disgrace….
