Sunday, California and Japan played each other in the Little League World Series (LLWS) title game, and California won the 2011 LLWS title 2-1. Japan scored first in the third inning, and California followed with a home run in the bottom of the third. Both teams remained dead locked for several innings, until the bottom of the sixth when California scored with the bases loaded and two outs. It was the son of the coach for the California team that made the final hit to win the game. He said that it was “the greatest moment of his life” when he hit the baseball into the outfield.
The Huntington Beach, California team fell into a huddle on the field in excitement, while some of the Japan players cried along the sidelines. The two teams have gotten to know each other well over the last few days, with the help of one of the California players who can speak Japanese and English.
