Summertime is the perfect time to enjoy a juicy burger. It’s also a good time to check out Centennial Olympic Park for the fountain show, if for no other reason, than to escape the scorching heat with a hose down. Why not combine both efforts and check out Googie Burger, which is located inside Centennial Olympic Park.
Their menu is pretty basic with a few stand outs; for example, they have basic milkshakes but also “spiked” milkshakes with vanilla vodka, crème de banana, or crème de cocoa depending on the flavor your choose. They also offer a traditional cheeseburger, but you can also get a turkey or veggie variety, single or double patty. One of the perks the kids will enjoy is the fact that the kids’ meal is served on a Frisbee instead of a traditional tray that the adult meals are served on. As for side items, fries are your only option but you can add different sauces for a dollar like cheese, chili, fiery sauce, and googie-q.
There is no indoor dining area at Googie Burger; it’s outdoor eating only. So that does cause some limitations with weather but there are plenty of places to sit. There are umbrellas and shaded areas so you can get out of the sun or if you would prefer to bake, you can roast away! Ordering takes place on one side of the building and then you pick up your order once it’s finished on the other side of the building. They announce your number over the loud speaker to let you know when your food is ready and there is a condiment station on the exterior so you can load up on mustard, ketchup, and napkins.
Some of the drawbacks to Googie Burger are the fact that it’s only accessible by walking. Since it is not on a road and is physically in a park, there is no parking and no drive-thru. You have to walk to it from another attraction near Centennial Park for convenience but most people will not go out of their way to get here if they aren’t already in the park. Plus, it’s downtown Atlanta so good luck finding free parking.
The good news; the prices are reasonable and if you are in the area, it’s a tasty treat while you are visiting the attractions downtown. If you are planning on coming through Centennial Olympic Park and the weather is nice, Googie Burger is definitely worth a try.
