Mercedes Benz of Buffalo Fashion week is in full effect the event kicked off Sept 3. and runs to Sept 10 in Buffalo NY. Buffalo Fashion week features some of the hottest emerging designers, runways shows and social events throughout the city. Making its first Buffalo fashion week debut at Niagara Square photo shoot Sep. 6 and at the Mansion on Delaware Sep. 7 is the Rochester Based Jewelry house “Reckless Necklace”. The Rochester based jewelry house prides itself on creating unique modern wearable art.
Blynn Nelson is founder and designer of Reckless Necklace who says she got her first inspiration from grandmother. Blynn states Reckless Neckless is all about combining vintage with modern with the use of textures, unusual color, hard lines, curves, sculpture and bold taste.

I caught up with Reckless Neckless founder & artist Blynn Nelson to get the inside scoop on her Reckless Necklace line.
TB: How would you describe your line?
Blynn Nelson: Unique Modern Wearable Art.
TB: What was your inspiration this season?
Blynn Nelson: Classic Hollywood Glamour – As a child I used to watch old movies with my Dad and loved seeing the women dressed in the gowns and jewels …think Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Marlien Dietrich.
TB: For you what are key pieces from your collection? How would you describe your signature?
Blynn Nelson: Key pieces for this collection are Vintage fur pieces that I have repurposed, vintage brooches, vintage pearls and glass beads, vintage chandelier crystals which has become my signature piece
TB:I hear you are a native of Rochester NY How did you get started in Fashion?
Blynn Nelson:I actually have a degree in Interior Design from Rochester Institute of Technology and a strong background in art. I have always been interested in design and sculpture so creating my pieces is really a combination of design and sculpture that you can wear. I consider my pieces to be works of wearable art.
TB: How do your describe your demographics?
Blynn Nelson: Honestly across the board since my line is diverse- but mainly strong, unique women between 40-60 would be my target market
TB: How would you describe your line and how is it different?
Blynn Nelson: My line is a combination of vintage repurposed fur combined with vintage pearls, glass beads vintage rhinestone belts – All my necklaces are unique in that they are asymmetrical -for example fur on one side and pearls/beads on the other with the focal point always being a vintage brooch.
TB: What’s your best seller?
Blynn Nelson: My best seller is my Signature and I also do a lot of custom pieces and bridal parties.
TB: What can we expect at BFW?
Blynn Nelson: My show during Buffalo Fashion Week will be the premier of my new fur line ” Reckless Fur” for Reckless Necklace. Never before seen!!
TB: How important is the event to your goal?
Blynn Nelson:Very Important, because of the level of national exposure that BFW receives and the level of designers that it has attracted.
TB: What’s next for the Reckless Necklace line?
Blynn Nelson: My line is ever evolving – I am looking for my next inspiration. I am hoping for national exposure in larger markets.
