Placerville, CA – An Amber alert for two-year-old Madeline Samaan, abducted by her father from Sacramento one week ago, has been canceled after the discovery of two bodies in rural El Dorado County.
According to an FBI alert memo, the bodies were found in a dark green Toyota 4Runner, California license 3XRM111 at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13. That vehicle was known to be operated by Maroud Samaan, 49, the girl’s father, and was referenced in an Amber alert issued late Friday. The vehicle was found in a remote section of El Dorado County, near Placerville, California.
The missing girl and her father were last seen at a Sacramento area Raley’s grocery store last Sunday, August 7.
According to an Associated Press story, the abduction occurred after the child’s mother was granted full custody of her daughter in a recent court order. The circumstances, causes, and times of death have not yet been released by investigators. According to the same FBI memo, investigators from both the FBI and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department are continuing their work through the weekend.
