Transport your wedding guests back in time with a ceremony and reception at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. The BMI offers wonderful spaces both indoor and out that are not only historic and unique, but also offer breathtaking views of the Inner Harbor.
Outside its walls, the historic venue has a one-of-kind outdoor space for ceremonies and receptions that provides a magnificent view of the Inner Harbor. But it’s what’s inside the venue that makes it one of the most unique in Baltimore. One of the sites available for wedding receptions, the Alonso G. Decker Gallery, is a fun and funky place to party the night away with your guests.
“The Decker Gallery offers a unique, fun site for receptions,” said Jessica Williams, BMI’s Director of Marketing and Events. “What’s great about the Decker Gallery is you don’t have to decorate, it’s fully decorated with artifacts, exhibits and more.”
Celebrating its 30th anniversary since the BMI opened to the public in 1981, Williams said the museum’s peak months for weddings (May-October) are booking pretty far in advance, and that the museum can sometimes be booked for up to three weddings a week.
It’s all about the setting …
Ceremonies are performed in the Open-Air Gallery with the stunning Inner Harbor serving as the perfect backdrop.
“The Pavilion offers a wonderful waterfront view of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor,” Williams said. “Accommodating up to 500 people, it’s perfect for wedding ceremonies, receptions, cocktails parties and more. In case of inclement weather, the sides do drop down.”
And if you want to keep the party going outdoors, the pavilion can also accommodate 300 seated guests or many more for cocktail reception service with additional space available on the adjoining waterfront point. No need to worry about the weather either, clear walls can be lowered around the pavilion in inclement weather.
If you’d rather hold your reception indoors so your guests can view the spectacular exhibits of the museum, the Decker Gallery can accommodate up to 300 guests for a seated dinner and 500 or more for a cocktail-style reception. A floor-to-ceiling wall of windows and a beautiful brick terrace afford more spectacular views of the Inner Harbor.
For dinner, the venue has a large list of approved caterers that can be found by clicking here. The Decker Gallery does not have a liquor license so the caterer must provide the necessary alcohol and service.
It’s all about the cost …
For such an extravagant view and unique reception setting, couples should allot a nice chunk of change for the rental fees if they want to book at BMI.
