Beyonce is popular, but news of her pregnancy on the 2011 VMAs Sunday night proved that was more popular than the death of Osama bin Laden, Business Insider reports. Talk about a comparison with some shock value.
The famous announcement of Beyonce’s baby bump broke a new Twitter record with 8,868 tweets per second (TPS). When news hit that Osama bin Laden was killed, it fetched only 5,106 TPS. Her news on the VMAs also beat the tweets for the Virginia earthquake, which reached 5,500 TPS.
Twitter is a good indicator of what users feel most passionate about.
Does Beyonce’s pregnancy relate more to fans than the death of the world’s worst terrorist?
