In the alley between the Havaianas store and a posh little café, a small stage was set up for an ad hoc performance by one of LA’s rising indie rock bands, Best Coast. Though the production was small, the band really delivered to a packed venue for this free show. With lager and coconut water flowing, it was a treat to see the too-cool-for-school Hollywood crowd actually dancing and having a good time. The band played a lot of their fan favorites and newer songs, all of which were well received.
Afterwards, the band stuck around for a bit to hang out with fans and dance to the tunes provided by a DJ booth inside the Havaianas store which played through the speakers at 15Twenty. This semi-improved show was a serendipity for fans of the LA local band as well as passer-bys transformed into fans. While the LA indie rock scene is usually full of passive-aggressive cutthroats, Best Coast is definitely a band to watch out for.
