(Hebrews; 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Simply put, faith is believing in those things that aren’t as if they already were. For many people in today’s society this is a very abstract thought. Faith, however, goes far beyond being just a thought. It should be the very roots of our foundation and it’s time for people to become reacquainted with that.
A basic method for growing in faith is to let go of all negative emotions i.e. fear, hate, anger etc. The only emotions that should fill a person are love and happiness, though this is not an easy task. Why is this important, because if a person allows negative emotions within or dwells on them it will automatically block him or her from faith. A person has to hope, trust, love and live in the certainty that God is (Glossary of Light, Faith).
Learning to walk in positive emotions is merely a small step in helping yourself to grow in faith. A good daily exercise for helping to release negative emotions is a quick meditation. We make time for lunch, talking on the phone, television, reading etc. We can make time for a quick meditation in our daily routine. First try and find a quiet area to meditate in. Close your eyes and take slow deep breaths while clearing your mind. Thoughts will come, but do not focus on them just allow them to pass on. Accept any sounds that you may hear around you. As you breathe in, see yourself filled with light, love and happiness. As you breathe out see negativity flowing out of your body. Try this exercise for about 30 minutes everyday or as often as you can find time to do so.
