Let’s see, the ‘debate’ over raising the debt ceiling shows politicians bouncing off walls, stomping the floor, pounding the table and raising the roof.
All for nothing.
Power brokers will not allow the government to default. Even if we miss the deadline and fail to raise the ceiling (for the 11th time in as many years is it?), there are resources available to meet obligations, so there won’t be a default, at least that’s what Sen. DeMint says. As politicians go, he is someone we can rely on.
But even if the government defaults, the sky will not fall, as the hysterics insist.
We will continue to borrow $4B plus per day to run the government so that the government can run us into the ground.
The feds are collecting taxes right now, and they have that ‘cash’ on hand!
What’s amazing is the stupid game being played.
The Democrats think we’ll be impressed they offer to cut spending $2T over the next 10 years. Big deal. We’re in debt $119T looking out a few decades. Interest on the national debt runs about $400B right now, per year. In 2017 it is expected to be about $600B.
At $500B per year we will spend $5T in 10 years, interest only, as the principle snowballs.
So, the Democrat promise to cut $2T during that time doesn’t look very impressive does it? (Even assuming $2T amounts to real cuts, it is a drop of spit in the ocean. Most of it would apparently be a reduction in the rate of increase, which is DC Speak for “Cuts.” Only a Democrat would call a slowing of the rate of spending an actual reduction.)
OK, so the truth is we’re bankrupt.
The Chinese are about to dump dollars on the market which will aggravate inflation which is already bad. The Fed just thinks we can print money apparently and the President thinks the way to solve a borrowing problem is to borrow some more, sort of like W.C. Fields’ cure for alcoholism.
Call me stupid, but when I exceeded my limit on my Visa, they stopped letting me use the card. Not so with Obama & Friends. They just go get more cards, run up more debt, and pay only the minimum payment, all with more borrowed money.
It’s called the infinite sink hole: taking from the American people, wasting our resources, ruining the country.
Barry the Profligate now preaches fiscal conservatism challenging real Conservatives to get serious, you know, the ones in the House put there by The People, the ones Barry refuses to take seriously. (Yes, The same People Mr. Obama despises, calling them gun-hugging, bible-thumping Tea Baggers.)
Barry is no dope. He knows the ship of state is headed for the rocks. But he thinks he still has enough power to raise taxes “on the rich,” if we’ll only “eat our peas,” and “take off the band-aid.” When the ship crashes, he’ll blame the Republicans, and Bush, and the Tea Party, then try to flip the final switch, the “fundamental transformation of America,” from shining city on a hill, to second rate nanny state.
And as reality tightens around Barry’s chest, all he can do is “push” as in the throes of labor.
Meanwhile, the problem he is largely responsible for worsens as a function of his policies and his refusal to enact common sense solutions.
He believes The People are so stupid they’ll believe him when he tries to blame Republicans, the weather, or people who fly around in corporate jets. He believes he will win the day pretending that closing loop holes is a serious solution.
As to his personal habits informing his real attitude . . .the cost to operate Air Force One— $182,000.00 per hour, about $1.5 million for 8 hours. His last trip to Asia ran $8.7 million for flight time alone. That cost did not include escort aircraft, security, staff, and accommodations for his entourage. Obama has spent more time abroad in his first two years than any other president, ever. His Hawaiian Christmas vacation last year: $1.4M. His wife has the largest staff of any First Lady ever: 22 people costing about $1.5M per year.
Don’t forget: he is a fiscal conservative, and he feels your pain.
