Japanese game observer website Andriasang reports that the latest issue of prominent gaming publication Famitsu has new details on the cult favorite Persona series. Persona 4, the most recent JRPG in the series, will be getting the Playstation Vita treatment with a new version–including new characters–called Persona 4: The Golden. The game is slated for release in Japan in spring 2012.
In other Persona news, the team behind the fighting series BlazBlue is developing Persona 4: Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena that will pit Persona 4 characters–and Persona 3’s Aigis–against each other in classic fighting game fashion. There was also a minor update about the status of Persona 5, with assurances that the original team has completed preparation work for the project and is ready to start the heavy lifting.
