ABOUT X The TXT
Launched in 2009, Allstate’s “X the TXT” is a national public awareness campaign whose goal is to eliminate texting while driving — one of the most dangerous driver distractions facing teens as well as adults.
Please join us in spreading the distracted driving message by taking the pledge to “X The TXT” at Arts, Beats & Eats this Labor Day weekend (9/2 – 9/5) at the Benson Millar Allstate Insurance Agency booth on Washington Avenue at 4th Street. We are a local Allstate Agency located at 811 N Main Ste 104 248-547-0660. Our goal is to reach 5,000 pledges.
At Arts, Beats, and Eats, teens, parents, and children can make a blue thumbprint pledge on our Allstate “X The TXT” banner as a symbol of their promise not to text and drive.
WHY ALLSTATE WANTS TO ELIMINATE TEXTING AND DRIVING (Statistics)
Motor vehicle crashes are the No. 1 killer of American teens. About 4,000 teens are killed in car crashes each year.
Allstate wants to help put a stop to this epidemic by making teens and their parents aware of the dangers of distracted driving.
Safe driving habits start at home. According to a recent study by the Allstate Foundation, almost 90 percent of the teens surveyed said their parents were the biggest influence on their driving habits.
Texting and driving can increase your risk of crashing by 23 times.
Texting takes our eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds. At 55 mph, that’s driving the length of a football field – completely blind.
Eliminating distractions in the car can help save lives on the road – especially for teens since they have less experience behind the wheel.
Don’t forget the ‘Beats” part of the festival. Read about the music here!
