The Pinellas Park Art Society is a non-profit organization serving Pinellas County since 1964. The group supports visual fine arts through classes, seminars, demonstrations, monthly art shows and exhibits, off center exhibits, monthly general meetings, and community outreach. The group is open to all forms of visual fine art, and encourages new types of visual art.
In the Park Station location, there is space for artists to work on their projects and to gather, to connect and network in friendship. Gallery space is allocated in the rooms to show framed artwork. Artists can sell their work directly from the gallery rooms with a 10% commission on all sales going back to the PPAS.
On Saturdays at Park Station, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, artists and photographers from the Pinellas Park Art Society meet to display their work in the gallery. There are classes, workshops, and demonstrations. Some of the art is for sale. Some artists work on their paintings and drawings, and some have even brought instruments to provide music and sing along. Members take turns bringing light refreshments.
Visitors are welcome. People who enjoy art can stop by to meet the artists, see the show and perhaps purchase a work of art. A new class is now being planned for teens and young adults.
Monthly meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Members come together to share their creative passion for art.
Artists are encouraged to join at any time. Membership Chairperson Barbara Lewis – phone 727-393-8888 – is available to answer questions and help register new members. Treasurer Carl Hetherly – phone 727-544-7922 – can accept your membership fee, which is now half price through the remainder of this year.
The low membership fee is renewable annually. You can get a membership form at the gallery in Park Station, or download it from the group web site. President Richard Jansen – phone 727-360-4406 – would like to get renewal forms from members in by February 15th, to get an idea of how many members there will be in the group in 2012.
