As a small, but unique niche, in the very large, health and fitness industry, bodybuilders are starting to get attention for more than just their muscle mass. Yes, some bodybuilders get negative attention for using pharmaceuticals to enhance their physique, but there are plenty of natural bodybuilders, that are gaining respect for their intellect and discipline, regarding a total physique transformation. It seems as if most people would not want a bodybuilder’s type of physique, however, 99.9% of people that do any type of exercise, would love to have the discipline and fat loss strategies of bodybuilders! Are bodybuilders any more unique than anyone else that is working on a physique transformation? Do bodybuilders have secret knowledge that they keep to themselves? Are they the best experts in everything related to healthy fat loss, nutritional supplementation and muscle gain?
Bodybuilders are only more unique in the fact that they have an insatiable desire for more muscle mass. People that do any type of weight training also want to look and feel good– they just do not want to be as big as a bodybuilder. There are bodybuilders that do not want (or like) to talk about their diet and training strategies, but there is no extra special hidden secret knowledge, or nutritional supplement, that is being kept from the rest of the health and fitness conscious people, that are transforming their physiques. Bodybuilders have some interesting habits, regimens and schedules, that most people would not understand. However, when someone in a gym wants diet, training and nutritional supplement tips, most people will ask the well- conditioned bodybuilder for their opinions and advice. Most people that exercise, usually just want (and need), a good multi-vitamin supplement, and possibly a few supplements for energy and fat loss. Now, back to the question of bodybuilders being experts for nutritional supplementation. Obviously, the term expert is open to many very different interpretations, but let us examine some variables, that may qualify some bodybuilders as experts, in nutritional supplementation.
Natural bodybuilders are the most likely people to read every single word, of every single nutritional supplement advertisement, in all of the muscle magazines. The nutritional supplement industry is a MULTI-BILLION dollar a year industry, and all of these supplement companies pay marketers and writers very well, to promote their products, by making sure that every word, of every ad, is read. The supplement ads are written very well, and are fun to read. A well-seasoned, and well educated bodybuilder knows that there is a lot of hype, and sometimes gimmicks, in these ads, but they read them anyway. Natural bodybuilders will always look for any advantage (even small, or insignificant to most) to become bigger and stronger. Reading nutritional supplement ads will definitely not make you an expert in nutritional supplementation, but a natural bodybuilder, that has read, researched, studied and used every possible supplement–combined with years of trial and error– becomes an expert over time. Natural bodybuilders that are new to the supplement scene, learn real fast about what supplements get results, and which supplements are ineffective.
Wasting thousands of dollars on ineffective supplements for your first few years as a young bodybuilder, makes you frustrated, and forces you to educate yourself quickly as to which supplements are actually effective! Another exceptional skill that bodybuilders acquire over time, is their extremely strict attention to details!! Every macro-nutrient of a bodybuilder’s diet is calculated and analyzed daily. Different types of proteins, fats, fiber, carbohydrates, fluids, and every other possible aspect of nutrition, and nutritional supplementation, is not overlooked! This constant process of strict attention to details, enables bodybuilders to become experts in knowing exactly what elements, are the most effective and necessary, from nutritional supplements, to give themselves that little extra health and training advantage.
If someone asks you–” Are you a bodybuilder?”–This question should give you an indication that you are doing things well, pertaining to fitness and smart nutritional supplementation use! You should never give, or make, any false claims about nutritional supplement products, and everyone knows that you will always have those “wanna-be, “know it all” types of bodybuilders. However, if you have consistently achieved success in all of your fitness goals– feel proud to share your years of experience with others! So, if you are a natural bodybuilder, do not feel too proud to know, that you can always learn from more experienced bodybuilders. For those of you that may not have the same physique transformation goals as a bodybuilder– If you just want to lose some fat and get toned– you may want to take some advice from a well experienced, self-taught expert– who, as the saying goes– “has been there–and done that”
Until next time–Train hard–but train SMART!!!
