Saturday, July 9 Boxer Results
Boxers took the ring at 8:30 Saturday morning — a typical early ring time, both to keep the breed out of the worst heat of the day and because Boxers don’t require a lot of grooming as the long-coated breeds do. The Saturday judge was Mr. David Haddock. The entry was large, following the Michigan Boxer Club specialty show on Friday, with 71 Boxers competing. Winners Dog was awarded to Raineylane-Studio Picasso Of Baibrook, owner-handled by Bridget Brown, co-owned with Mike Ahlers and bred by Karen Kaleta. Reserve Winners Dog was KaRon’s Varsity Dreams, handled by Tess Savage, bred and owned by Kathy and Ron Jaeb.
Mr. Haddock moved on to the bitch classes, and awarded Winners Bitch to Baibrook’s Trace of Gold — littermate to the Winner’s Dog — handled by Tess Savage and bred and owned by Karen Kaleta. Reserve Winners Bitch was Olympic’s Healing A Heart Ache, who was Winners Bitch at the Specialty on Friday. Hope was shown by Amy Bieri, bred by Amber Norton, and is owned by Julie Wilmore and Claudia Parsons.
In the Best of Breed competition, Mr. Haddock chose the bitch Ch. Sapphire’s Violet Sky in Vegas of Streamline as his Best of Breed winner. Zoey, who was Best in Specialty on Friday, was handled by Christa Cook, bred by Shelly Williams, and owned by Donald & Joleena Young and Charles & Gina Freer. Winners Dog was chosen as Best of Winners. Best of Opposite Sex went to GCh. Natness Royal Hot Rod, another repeat from Friday, breeder-owner handled by Tess Savage, co-bred and co-owned with Nancy Savage. Select Dog was Ch. Barbiloc’s Dart Image At Happy Tails RN, shown by Amy Bieri, bred by Barbara & Bill O’Connor, and co-owned by Amy and Barbara with Melissa Sartori. Select Bitch went to Ch. Just-A-Wyn’s Heartacres Pink Cadillac, also a repeat from Friday, handled by Ashley Wynieski, bred by Colleen Fobes, and owned by Ashley and Mary Lynn Wynieski, Tammy Zook, and Priscilla Kilman. That win completed Ruby’s Grand Championship. Later that day, Zoey took second in the Working Group.
4-6 Beginner Puppy Competition
Only two Boxer puppies were entered in the 4-6 Beginner Puppy Competition. No AKC points are awarded for this competition, and all puppies in the breed are judged together, rather than being divided by age or gender. The Best of Breed 4-6 Beginner Puppy was Murbe’s High Heel Chews, bred by Guy Fisher and Charles Wesch, owned by Rob Waslyk and Michelle Peters. The Boxer went on to win first in the 4-6 Beginner Puppy Working Group and then to Best 4-6 Beginner Puppy in Show out of 50 entries.
