Cut the spending. The debt crisis is calling out to the American people. Everywhere you turn, the news headlines showcase budget cuts, deadline talks, and no agreement is reached.
Dave Ramsey, financial author, radio host, and motivational speaker has a solution. The Great Recovery spotlights the American people, for the people, spread by the people. It is a movement of people tired of looking to Washington for answers. The Great Recovery invites Americans to take a stand.
“Together, we’ll bring this country back on track – one family, one church, one community at a time. It’ll be restored one family at a time, as each of us takes a stand to return to God and grandma’s way of handling money.” – The Great Recovery.
The American people have lots of ideas. Spenditol has a way to rid the pain of debt. In the YouTube video (see video left) created by Concerned Women for America, the fictitious drug, Spenditol has the answer. The ad urges Americans to call their congress.
Spenditol’s ad campaign was well received. According to the Christian Post, several states including Florida, Montana, Ohio, and Nebraska are broadcasting it. Penny Nance, CEO for Concerned Women for America explains the video. “CWA felt this ad was a way to tap into that angst that exists in America.” She went on to say, “This video cuts across party lines and gets to women protecting their families.”
While the ad takes a humorous approach, Penny Nance shares the frustration that so many Americans face. With a debt ceiling looming, the American people have suffered enough. Negotiations between President Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner rally between one another. Trying to maintain a balanced approach, an agreement has yet to be made. Parties walking out of debt talks in frustration, Boehner said, “In the end, we couldn’t connect. Not because of different personalities, but because of different visions for our country.”
On Monday, Obama addressed the nation stating, “If we agree to their deep, spending cuts-only approach and we default, we would not have enough money to pay all of our bills – bills that include monthly Social Security checks, veterans’ benefits, and the government contracts we’ve signed with thousands of businesses.”
Who’s right? Does anyone care? Who is feeding our families? Who is finding the Americans jobs? In a race to find support for the debt plans, the standoff continues. Americans are angry and outraged over their lack of compromise.
What can you do? Call your congress person as Spenditol suggests. Get involved as The Great Recovery urges. You can also pray.
In your communities, in your churches, and at home, pray for our leaders. Pray for our nation.
