Yesterday was the final taping of All My Children for the very foolish ABC Network. This is a big mistake on their part when their replacement show gets “chewed up” by AMC fans.
The stars of All My Children have nothing to worry about though because they will be greeted happily when Prospect Park resurrects their show in January with all of the respect and happiness and honor that ABC would not grant them. Susan Lucci, Michael E Knight, Bobbie Eakes, Walt Willey and Company have a few months off to relax and get ready for a new medium, full of wonderful new experiences and probably a new home on cable.
My hope is that they all will consider joining Prospect Park in this new frontier for soaps and the fans who love them.
For now we say we love all of you who have filled our lives with so much romance, love, family, friendship, marriages, births, divorces, hate, murder, intrique and All My Children.
When the Chicago Tribune asked the glorious Agnes Nixon “Will you be with the show as it moves over to the Internet?”
Ms Nixon replied: Yes, I’ll be the creative consultant. Sometimes there are writers who don’t want my help, but for the most part I have the big ideas. We’re going to have a hiatus, you know, for three months. And the head of Prospect Park (the production company taking over the shows) said, “We’ve got to have a big cliffhanger for that three months.” And so I came up with one which I can’t tell you. But they loved it.
And so will we!
