The Tampa Yankees took to George M. Steinbrenner Field on this Hot Sunday afternoon to take on the Brevard County Manatees in the third game of this four game series. Josh Romanski (ERA 2.95) took the mound for the T-Yanks in this must win game.
In the top of the 1st, Romanski allowed a run by the Manatees as they took an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the 1st, Abe Almonte scored a run off a ground ball single by Ronnier Mustelier. In the top of the 2nd, the Manatees tacked another run on the board to go up 2-1. In the bottom of the 2nd, Neil Medchill helped Tampa tie the game with a solo homerun on a fly ball to right field. The T-Yanks scored a run in each of the 3rd and 4th innings. But, in the bottom of the 5th, Mitch Abeita hit a two run triple to take a 6-2 lead.
Romanski pitched 5 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs, striking out 4. In the top of the 6th, reliever Daniel Burawa (ERA 3.34) allowed 4 runs by Brevard, allowing them to tie the game at 6. Though the Manatees were able to score another run in the top of the 7th, Tampa was able to take complete control of the game.
To start this exciting inning, Ronnier Mustelier hit his 10th double of the season. Kyle Roller grounded out and advanced Mustelier to 3rd. Rob Segedin then hit a single, sending Mustelier home to score. Cody Johnson then hit a double, sending Segedin home. Johnson would then score a run as well when Mitch Abeita hit a single. Neil Medchill hit a single, sending Abeita to 2nd. Emerson Landoni was then hit by a pitch; loading the bases. Abe Almonte hit a single on a ground ball sending Abeita home, and loading the bases again. Kelvin Castro then grounded into a forced out, Medchill would be out at home; Landoni would squeak in a run however. Mustelier then was back up at the plate for the second time that inning and hit a three run homer on a fly ball to left field. The T-Yanks would then end up scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th to put Tampa up 14-7.
Burawa pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, striking out 2. In the bottom of the 8th, Tampa was able to squeak out one more run as Cody Johnson and Neil Medchill both hit double. Ronny Marte (ERA 3.64) pitched 1 2/3 innings, with no runs allowed. With a final score of 15-7, the Tampa Yankees earned the win, Burawa earns his second win of the season (2-1) as well as being charged with a blown save (3).
The Tampa Yankees will play the fourth final game of the series as well as the home standon Monday evening at 7:00pm.
