After previews at the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery and FineMark National Bank & Trust, all of the artwork that will be included in this year’s Arts for ACT Fine Art Auction will be on exhibit for Art Walk on Friday, August 5, at the Harborside Event Center, which is where the fundraiser and gala will take place the following night (Saturday, August 6).
This year marks the 24th Arts for ACT fine art auction, with many celebs, luminaries and art scene movers and shakers expected to attend. Film and television actor Bill Cobbs is serving as celebrity auctioneer, and recording artist turned fine artist, Bobby Goldsboro, will also be on hand for the event. One of Goldsboro’s paintings is included in the live auction.
Downtown Diva Stephanie Davis will be at the Harborside’s front doors for the gala, greeting and photographing guests as they arrive beginning at 5:30 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres will be served beginning at 7:00, with the auction getting under way shortly after that.
More than 125 visual and performing artists have contributed 70 items for the silent auction and 63 others for the live auction, including an original Darryl Pottorf, a piece on which Pottorf collaborated with actress Sharon Stone, signed guitars by Ozzy Osbourne and Styx, a fiddle signed by the Dave Matthews Band, gold records, trips, jewelry, sports memorabila and more. Also available will be Mid-Day Serenade by artist and daas Gallery co-owner David Acevedo, this year’s Arts for ACT Featured Artist. He is joined by fellow “12 Artists of ACT” Cheryl Fausel, News-Press cartoonist Doug MacGregor, Scott Guelcher, Jim Dickerson, 2011 Visual Artist of the Year and Coloring the World gallery owner Stephen Gray-Blancett, Barbara Chloe Murdoch, Ellen Sheppard, Todd Andrew Babb, Jeffrey Scott Lewis, Cathy Logan and watercolorist Christine Reichow.
