Most public schools have already started and most Home Educators/home school families are gearing up for a new year. For some its the start of a new adventure, never having home schooled before. Exciting and scary all at one time. For others they have been at it a while, they know what they want to do and how to do it. In between there are many other options. Whereever you are I hope you take time to enjoy the new year, new beginning, and the time with your child/children. Enthusiasm is usually high at the start of the year, and goes through ups and downs, through out the year.
For many this time of year brings an increase in field trips, having the parks, zoos and museums all to ourselfs many home school moms take advantage and plan more outings! If you have not yet begun your new school year a field trip is a great way to start your first day back to school! Many places love to have home school groups visit and will often discount as well. You should at least be able to get the discount that public schools get in most places.
Wichita Kansas has so many great places to visit for field trips. From free to costly there is something for everyon. There are many museums, of all kinds. Parks with and with out water! Large parks and small parks. Walking trails, Imax, Zoos, science Centers, and more. There are a lot of Home School families in Wichita as well. Drop by River Side Park Between 13th St North and Central Street at Seneca during school hours you will often find a group of Home school families gathering, kids playing, moms talking, food, activities, all enjoying having the park to themselfs.

Whatever you do take time to enjoy your children, watch them grow and learn. Find ways to teach your children to enjoy and love learning. A field trip with a new topic for History or science can help peak curiosity. A park day is a great reward for a good job done through the week, or a great way to start the week! how ever you do it using the parks through out the city is a great way to learn, to enjoy your children, to avoid burn out, find inspiration and relax! With so many great options you should be able to enjoy the outdoors weekly and nature walks are great way to educate the kids as well! A bag, journal, pen pencil or crayon and your educational supplies just increased while walking in a park! Enjoy.
