I would love to see a new Broadway show that is entirely about New Hampshire. For me, it would only be natural. Our wonderful state has such a rich cultural heritage that, at least in my mind, would work well in a musical. Some of the songs would undoubtedly be a little tacky, but an original story about our fair state would be a wonderful musical, at least from my perspective.
The opportunities for historical storytelling are endless, from the many governors, to the great and majestic White Mountains. If someone came up to me and asked for my opinion on a story for a musical about New Hampshire, I would probably tell them that the story should be the story of New Hampshire, from its humble beginnings to the present day. Along the way, we would meet up with some of the more famous individuals and places in New Hampshire, such as Adam Sandler and Squam Lake. The songs would be everything from light character songs to heavy dramatic ballads. As for the actors, all or most of them would be a wonderful collection of silly and even weird personalities.
These are the main reasons why I think there should be an original musical about the Granite State. There are many other reasons why I think there should be a musical about New Hampshire, but if I went on and on, I know I would almost certainly bore you. So I’ll just end here and say “till next time”!
