Kumo Sushi is one of the most enjoyable and diverse of the sushi bars on the Upper West Side. Notable items on the lunch menu are the Sushi Lunch Special, which consists of seven pieces of sushi and a California roll, or the Sashimi Lunch Special, which consists of twelve pieces of sashimi. Kumo’s offers nearly 40 different types of sushi including salmon, avocado, cucumber, sweet potato and spicy crunch shrimp.
Kumo’s special types of rolls include their namesake roll that contains shrimp tempura, kani, tobiko, eel and avocado. Kumo also offers the Dragon Roll (consisting of eel, cucumber and avocado), the Pink Lady Roll (containing salmon, avocado and cucumber), or the New York Roll which consists of shrimp tempura, cucumber, tobiko, eel and salmon.
Other than sushi, items from Kumo’s lunch specials menu such as Pork Katsu Don, Chicken Katsu Don or Nabe Yaki Udon are served with either Miso Soup or salad on the side. Tasty types of salad offered include green salad with ginger dressing, mesclun salad with avocado, or “Salmon Sashimi Salad” which contains salmon, cucumber and spicy mayonnaise.
Besides salad, other appetizers include chicken tempura, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, deep fried oysters or steamed mixed vegetables.
