The San Francisco 49ers will hold public practice and team Fan Fest on August 14 at Candlestick Park for the first time in over 20 years.
This free event requires a ticket purchase on the 49ers’ web site. Parking is free and fans of all ages get a chance to see the players up close. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with practice beginning at 2:00 p.m. Practice is scheduled to conclude at 4:30 p.m. with players signing autographs afterward.
The 49ers will also be introducing some new gameday amenities at the stadium for the upcoming season. The team’s first game at Candlestick Park is their preseason matchup against the Oakland Raiders on August 20.
Courtesy of the 49ers’ press release, here are the new features at Candlestick Park:
For the 2011 season the Candlestick Park entrance gates have been reconfigured, providing improved access. Inside the Grand Plaza, fans will find a new 49ers Museum, women’s only merchandise store, along with a new outdoor sports bar, entertainment, stage and food trucks in the Bud Light Plaza, food trucks and a new “kids zone” with inflatable games and Play60 Field in the Verizon Gate.
This new and unique paperless ticket system is the first of its kind in the NFL. Paperless ticketing by Ticketmaster allows fans to enter 49ers home games with just the swipe of their credit card. The concept is very similar to an electronic plane ticket and is the future of sports ticketing. Paperless ticketing gives fans a greater level of convenience, flexibility and security when managing game tickets.
The benefits include:
• No more lost, forgotten or stolen paper tickets.
• The power to transfer tickets easily to anyone with access to the Internet, anytime or anywhere, even at the last minute at no charge
• The ability to manage season seat inventory quickly and easily through My 49ers Account on www.49ers.com.
“We are excited to offer this option to 49ers fans,” said Jamie Brandt, Vice President of Ticketing and Suites. “The system is easy, flexible and secure. You don’t have to worry about bringing your tickets to the game. Most people carry their credit cards on them and that’s all you need to get into the gate.
IMS Fan Text Messaging System
Having successfully used the ISS 24/7 Fan Text Messaging System the past two years, the 49ers will implement the Incident Management System (IMS) starting this season. The ISS technology allows for increased efficiency in responding to fans concerns and other venue issues, which will both improve security and boost the overall experience of those attending 49ers games. The usage of the ISS 24/7 platform will expand even further by implementing 2-way hand held communicators in the near future.
Tickets for Fan Fest are currently sold out.
