Cable TV’s longest running programming event, “Shark Week,” returns on Discovery Channel on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at 9:00 p.m. The popular summertime event feature seven all-new specials and some of the most watched shows from recent years.
The 24th annual Shark Week will feature Discovery’s now Chief Shark Officer (CSO), comedian Andy Samberg, who puts his unique spin on “Shark City.” Samberg travels to the Bahamas and jumps into shark filled waters to introduce viewer to a specific group of sharks that live of the shore of Nassau.The sharks each have distinct personalities, quirks and feeding patterns. Viewers can learn how the sharks size each other up, what they like to eat and what scares THEM.
Great White Invasion
In “Great White Invasion,” viewers will see that great white sharks seem to be coming closer to shores around the globe. In Australia, South Africa and on the American west coast, the great whites swim under surfers as they catch waves and in the shallow waters of popular beaches. If this is happening, why are there so few attacks? Everyone who swims in the beaches is apt to have a close encounter of the great white shark kind.
Jaws Comes Home
Utilizing state-of-the-art tagging technology, “Jaws Comes Home,” narrated by Mike Rowe ‘(Dirty Jobs), follows five great white shards as they make their recently discovered 1,200-mile journey up and down the eastern seaboard, appearing off Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard for the first time in nearly 30 years.
