Happy 4th of July everyone! And what better way to celebrate than taking a look at the all American Buick Century. The 2006 Century is straight forward transportation; however, it is a car that represents good value, it has a solid rating and at a reasonable price.
Autos.msn.com provided the average ratings for the Century as follows: Styling 8.7, Performance 8.4, Interior 8.7, Quality 8.7, Recommendation 8.8, and Overall Rating 8.7. These numbers are out of 10. Furthermore, J.D. Power and Associates rated the Century as number 1 in the premium midsize car segment.
The car offers a surprising number of luxury items at a very reasonable price. Some of the features include a smooth shifting automatic transmission with fuel saving overdrive. Furthermore, the car has automatic headlights, traction control, daytime running lamps, power doors and windows, fully independent suspension, and remote keyless entry.
The trunk provides 16.7 cubic feet of space, and the wheelbase is 109 inches.
The car’s exterior styling is clean and quite good looking with nothing ‘out of place.’ Thus, even though this Buick is a 5-year old car, it does not look out of date as good design does not really go out of style.
The engine is a proven 3.1-liter V6 with sequential fuel injection. It provides 175 hp and 195 ft. lb of torque. The car reportedly provides all the power you will ever need. The car’s 0-60 mph time is in 9.5 seconds.
The brakes are four-wheel discs all around, and the tires are 205 70 15 inch.
This Buick has 4-wheel independent suspension combined with vibration reducing cross-members and isolated subframes that provides excellent handling and a smooth quiet ride.
On the inside the Century offers room for up to six. The seats are comfortable in standard cloth upholstery; however, six-way power seats and soft high-quality leather are optional. Other interior features include dual-zone climate control and an air filtration system.
The safely rating of this Buick is excellent. As a matter of fact, its safety rating is reported to be second to none.
The gas mileage for the 2006 Buick Century is 20 city and 29 mph highway.
Overall, the Buick Century is an all American winner that has much to offer. And the best part is that the car can be purchased for a reasonable $8,000-$9,000.
How back to the picnic and fireworks!
